-The Association for the Support of Developmentally Disabled Individuals Stari grad was established by parents of developmentally disabled persons in 1997 as a nongovernmental non-profit organization. It is a gathering point not only for individuals from the municipality of Stari grad, but also for people from the complete territory of Belgrade and often for people living outside the capital. The Association offers its services every workday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. through its various activities: playrooms, workshops, counseling, various treatments, exercises etc.
-The number of our permanent user-visitors, individuals of all ages with different type of intellectual disabilities, is around 50, but the number goes up to 150 and even 2000 during various manifestations. The Association has also given help for the establishment of similar associations and societies in Serbia.
-Within its everyday work, the Association realizes various projects through the direct work with the disabled persons and their families, in the form of educative and creative workshops, school for the grown, the parents’ club, working with kids, counseling work with their parents, housekeeping workshops, creative workshops, music exercises, discotheques, all with the aim of integration, socialization and the education of these individuals. Many activities take place simultaneously, often outside the Association’s premises’. We also provide help during the contact between parents and disabled children that are in stationary institutions, transportation from-and-to home.
-We have organized manifestations, lectures, various educative platforms, conferences and exhibitions. Media coverage has also been important for the Association, and programs about our work have been broadcasted on public service channels.

The Association is supported by the Expert Council and the participation of the parents of developmentally disabled individuals is of great importance, since they often give ideas and induct activities.
-We have successful cooperation with local authorities, health, social, educational, handicap and other institutions, humanitarian and handicap organizations, the Ministry for Labour and Social Politics, the Serbian Government and other relevant organizations and institutions.
-In the Association we are permanently working on evaluating current and potential capabilities of these individuals through the help of expert teams and the individuals’ parents, with the aim of making real training and rehab plans for their further development and education. A special stress is set on employment training and giving help to their families, such as in-house expert help, legal help, care for the disabled when their parents have to be absent, advisory and medical help.
-After we made some great success developing different types of projects, within working on various acitivities in our Daily center, we continue on working out new projects which all have the same purpose:
to promote potentials of these individuals and make them have same rights as all members of our society have, to animate local community members to accept differences and contibute to development of inclusive society in which we all can
LIVE TOGETHER!!!
